March 30, 2007 -- Mectronic.net has developed a powerful new Meta-Search Engine (MSE) that is capable of searching 30 or more websites at the same time and presenting the aggregate results in a single desktop dashboard interface. The Mectronic.net solution consists of a fast, user-friendly, Windows-based desktop application that allows users to search multiple sources instantly and intuitively with real-time live updates.

Mectronic.net's Custom Meta-Search Engine was developed for an electronic component supplier to government and industry. The MSE automates searches, saves users time, and helps locate hard to find parts, allowing users to be extremely efficient in finding critical parts for their customers.

Prior to Mectronic.net's MSE, buyers and resellers of electronic components had to go through a laborious manual process of sequentially logging on to dozens of different part search sites. The search sites each require unique user names and passwords, and have inconsistent interfaces, results and data formats.

"Buyers and resellers of electronic parts are always frustrated with having to learn and remember the rules and features of each site that provides parts search functionality,” said Gerald Willis, CEO of Mectronic.net. “No two sites provide the same features, options or storage of information. This tool provides a way to assimilate all information from search results and interact with potential buyers and sellers in one single forum."

The new MSE allows parts buyers and resellers to search multiple part search engines simultaneously across the internet, access each site with appropriate login and password data, and tabulate the results in a consistent, easy-to-read format. An important feature is that the MSE will accept XML feeds from any site that provides them.

Users can browse full product details from all the sites at the same time, including part numbers, technical data sheets, distribution company, contact information, pricing, and distributor stock status, and can view company web sites to get more information -- all from different viewing tabs within the desktop interface. Users will be able to stop long running searches and set retry parameters for sites that may be down or too slow to respond.

The MSE's interface allows users to sort data in various ways, including sorting results by geographic region. Users can also move/hide columns, export data to Excel spreadsheets or CSV files, print data, and send requests for quotes (RFQ's) to multiple companies at once.

The MSE has a repository for storing information on distributors, RFQ's, PO's, transactions, history and notes that all users can access and make changes to. The solution stores user experience about how quickly specific distributors respond and how well they perform. And, it allows the user to grade the performance of each sales contact. All of these history logs are searchable by the user.

Mectronic.net's solution consists of a fast, user-friendly, Windows-based desktop application with automated set-up on a PC, coupled with an efficient and scalable PC software architecture utilizing a Microsoft SQL server for the database repository and automated data synching when the client is launched.
