This is an internet meta-search engine. Isn't it web-based?

No, at least not at this time. This is a Windows-based solution that resides on a user's PC and has a setup program included with the software. Mectronic.net designed it so that it can be set up on any PC that has a Windows operating system like Windows 2000, Windows XP, etc. It is not an online program, but will automatically go out to all the sites that have been assigned or addressed. Although it is not web-based, the interface is very fast and user-friendly.

How many search web sites will this program support?

To start with, the application will have support for 31 different search engines. The application is designed in such a way that additional search engines can be added seamlessly through an update process.

Can the application store searches, RFQ's, PO's and transactions?

Yes, the program has a repository for storing information on distributors, RFQ's, PO's, transactions, history and notes that all users can access and make changes to. The solution also stores user experience about how quickly specific distributors respond and how well they perform. And, it allows the user to grade the performance of each sales contact. All of these history logs are searchable by the user.

Can the passwords for one of the search sites be changed from within the application?

Yes, the "super user" within your organization can change passwords for each of the sites that the program has access to.

This application is tailored for those seeking to find and buy electronic components. Can it be used for other purposes or industries?

This is a custom solution that was developed by Mectronic.net for a client who is an electronic component supplier, so it is designed to meet the specific needs of this client within this industry. That said, the Metronic.net solution is parameter-driven and can be modified for other clients, purposes, and industries.

Mectronic.net's application is designed to search multiple search web sites that are subscription-based (charge a fee for access) and/or require unique usernames and passwords. To function and present search results properly, the data/results format for each search site to be included in the application must be mapped to the application results fields. For this reason, new search web sites cannot be added “on the fly,” but can be added via application update once the data mapping process for each new search site has been completed. Mectronic.net's application also includes custom functionality (multiple RFQ, PO and transaction tracking, etc.) that may differ from the functionality required for other clients, purposes, or industries.

All of this is a long way of saying:

•  This is a custom solution

•  It can be adapted for other clients, purposes, or industries

•  Because of the data mapping required for each search web site to be included and the level of custom functionality, this will always be a custom solution adapted for each client and their purpose, industry and requirements

•  Mectronic.net would love to adapt this technology to meet your needs.
