IDEC-Izumi
Corporation
is a $250 million dollar global manufacturer
headquartered in Japan of electrical industrial
controls, including relays, switches, power
supplies, PLCs, touchscreens, terminal blocks,
circuit breakers and sensors.
Idec
Corporation, the wholly-owned US subsidiary
of Idec-Izumi located in California, wanted
to work more closely with its distributors
under a new channel marketing program to
increase sales and market share. As part
of this program, they selected Mectronic.net
to offer a Distributor Inventory Search
capability on every product page of their
US website. This gave users a chance to
search for product data, find stock and
taking buying action immediately with stocking
distributors. Idec now has over 50 distributors
participating in the program. Idec gets
a copy of all inquiries sent to distributors
from their site for follow-up, and generates
over 1000 part searches per month.
After
the success of the channel program and Mectronic.net's
Distributor Stock Search in the US, Idec
Japan wanted to implement a similar program
for its 20 largest "Gold" Japanese distributors.
They asked Mectronic.net to create a double-byte
Japanese Character Font database to facilitate
the inventory search in Japan. Mectronic
also tailored information to be easily processed
using their internal Oracle ERP item data
structure. All searches and results are
displayed in Japanese, from Japanese market
based uploaded inventory by Idec's Japanese
distributors. Idec also gets spreadsheet
reports from Mectronic about inventory profiles
at distributors. Idec-Izumi launched their
new website capabilities with press releases
to major Japanese trade publications announcing
that they were the first in their industry
to provide distributor inventory search
capability.
In
both USA and Japan, Idec-Izumi is getting
thousands of searches on their websites,
and their distributors are receiving emails,
RFQs and Purchase Orders from existing and
new customers as a result.
